How do I know if I am healthy enough to begin an exercise program?

We all know exercise is good for us, but knowing when and where to start can be an obstacle to actually getting started. The answer depends on your particular health concern. You know your body and your health history best. If you have concerns that walking for exercise could damage your joints or compromise your heart, you should start with your doctor.  If you aren’t sure but you are suspect, you can start with a certified trainer/health coach, preferably one who has over 10 years experience with clients like you and who has their own protocol for health screening. You may be as ready as you have ever been to lose weight, but if your body isn’t ready and you hire a militant trainer without experience, or join a giant boot camp, you’re putting yourself at risk. Also, you want to make sure that you December 2019are aware of how to exercise correctly so you don’t hurt yourself and set yourself back. We all know getting to the gym the first day is the absolute hardest!

If you’ve been exercising but you are ready to take on a more serious goal or diet, consider what is best for YOU. Instagram and Facebook are great sources of inspiration but they can set up unreasonable expectations. A little personal training can go a long way when someone knows exactly who you are and how to fit a plan of attack into your unique life.
