Are there exercises that can help my golf game?

If you’re a golf fan, you’ve been exposed to the advancements in golf, many of which are related to how the professionals approach their game off the course. Sure, there are golf balls for perfect trajectory, custom clubs for the perfect fit, etc, but let’s get real, YOU are the key factor in how that ball goes into play. If your God-given talent isn’t enough, you should consider getting your body in better shape for the movements you make on the course. Either that or cue up the chiropractor and the physical therapist for your impending back pain. Here are our top two at-home exercises for your golf body.

Split squats is a lower body exercise that works on stability, mobility and strength. Stand with your legs in an extended full stride, with the weight on your lead leg. Slowly bend your back knee to lower your body and keep your front knee behind your toes and your back leg almost straight as you lower. Deadbugs are an excellent exercise for your core, which supports you as you swing from the tee. Lie on your back with all four limbs extended above you and extend the opposite arm and leg away from your body. Alternate sides. Complete ten repetitions of each, three times. And STRETCH!

Golf requires repetitive motion of your lower back and core so make sure they are loose and ready for your game. Want a full plan for an at-home, golf-focused workout? We have a scratch golfer creating workout programs here!
